Who Is Shahin Ouest? Real Name, Age, the Ouest Brand and His Spot on Lewis's Team

Who is Shahin Ouest? Real name Shahin Naderi, 26, 567K YouTube subscribers, founder of Ouest and second-line forward for Lewis against Primeau on Nov. 21.

Picture this. A guy from Montreal's West Island uploads his first YouTube video in January 2021, gathers a few friends and asks them to guess each other's nationality. Five years later, he has more than half a million subscribers, his own clothing brand, and a spot on Lewis le Fou's hockey team in front of 18,250 people at the Centre Vidéotron. That guy is Shahin Ouest. If you only know him as "the bearded one on Lewis's second line", get comfortable.

  • Second-line forward for Team Lewislefou at the November 21 rematch against Olivier Primeau

Who is Shahin Ouest, really?

Behind the handle is Shahin Naderi, a Montrealer of Iranian origin who grew up in the west end of the island. Spoiler: "Ouest" is not a random choice. He is proudly Québécois, deeply attached to the French language, and he has turned the space between his two worlds into his favourite playground.

His first video went live on January 7, 2021. Barely two years later, Google Canada ranked him 5th among the most promising Canadian creators of 2023. Not bad for someone whose core skill, on paper, is asking people questions they are almost guaranteed to get wrong.

The kind of trick question that built Shahin's audience: 150K likes on Instagram.

The Shahin formula: make people guess, then laugh at themselves

Every great concept fits in one sentence. His: put a group of people in a room and ask them to guess something they will probably miss. Who is the real Moroccan? Is this object luxury or junk? Which of these five French people is actually a Quebecer in disguise? In March 2024, his "guess who is Moroccan" episode with comedian Rachid Badouri passed 300,000 views within days.

His biggest hit, though, dropped on Valentine's Day 2024. Four guys, Lewis le Fou, Alex The Lucky, Aly Brassard and Cocotte, try to identify mysterious everyday objects that belong to women. The confusion is total, the result is pure comedy, and with more than 2.2 million views it is still the perfect entry point into his universe.

Lately, Shahin has been widening the frame. His recent travel documentaries, like the town that lives inside a single building or the forgotten Quebecers of the United States, regularly cross the 800,000 to one million view mark. Same curiosity, bigger map.

The friends behind the channel

Shahin rarely shoots alone. His regulars read like a yearbook of the Quebec web: Aly Brassard, Gurky, Cocotte, Lewis le Fou and One Way's own Alexane Pelletier. At the centre of it all is Alex The Lucky, his best friend since the age of 7, the editor behind many of your favourite Quebec YouTubers and, by Shahin's own admission, the guy who totalled his car. Some friendships survive anything.

He also goes live on Twitch, where the energy feels closer to a late-night variety show, guests in costumes nobody asked for included.

Ouest: the brand that turned a cliché into a hoodie

"J'comprends pas ton français." Shahin heard it often growing up. Instead of taking it personally, he printed it. His clothing brand Ouest turns that line into a slogan his community wears with pride, and every drop becomes an event: in January 2026, a camo collection was teased days before going live on a Sunday evening.

La Presse named him among the web personalities of 2025, with a portrait of how he built his own brand. And according to Le Regard, the cinematic campaign video for one Ouest collection stars Isabelle Labrecque, pilot, content creator, former L'Île de l'amour contestant and Shahin's partner.

One Way's take
Why brands keep an eye on Shahin

His formats are built for participation. A "luxury or not" episode is a product showcase nobody skips, because the audience is busy guessing. For a brand, that is the difference between being seen and being remembered.

Shahin and hockey: from guessing NHL players to the Centre Vidéotron

Hockey showed up on his channel before it showed up on his calendar: in one episode, he and Lewis try to spot the real NHL player in the room. Then came the real thing. On April 4, 2026, at the Colisée de Laval, Shahin played alongside Lewis in front of more than 4,000 fans, with over 70,000 people watching live online. Team Lewis won in overtime on a goal by Max Lavoie.

For the November 21 rematch against Olivier Primeau at the Centre Vidéotron, Lewis decided to spread his firepower. Shahin moves off the captain's line and takes charge of the second unit.
