Who Is Robin Messier? From OD Dans l'Ouest Finalist to Sport and Style Creator

Who is Robin Messier? Former carpenter recruited by OD on Instagram, 2021 OD Dans l'Ouest finalist with Marilou, Carole Thrift Shop co-owner and One Way creator.

He never sent an audition tape. Occupation Double's producers slid into his Instagram DMs instead. Five years later, Robin Messier has gone from carpenter to OD Dans l'Ouest finalist to a sport, style and lifestyle creator with more than 170,000 followers. If you have seen him breaking down Vendredis OD or at the US Open, here is who he really is.

Who is Robin Messier?

Robin Messier is a content creator from the Montreal area. Before TV, he worked as a carpenter-joiner. He had no plan to audition for Occupation Double: the show's team came looking for him.

"I didn't want to send a little three-minute video, so I let it go, and then they wrote to me on Instagram."

Today his content revolves around three passions: sports (football and hockey above all), streetwear and everyday life with his girlfriend, Lauranne Bouchard, and their dog Arnaud.

OD Dans l'Ouest: finalist with Marilou

In 2021, Robin joined Occupation Double Dans l'Ouest on Noovo. On November 24, he became a finalist with Marilou Bélanger, who had entered the adventure only a few weeks earlier. At the live finale on November 28, 2021, at Montreal's Reine Elizabeth hotel, viewers crowned Inès and Stevens. Robin and Marilou finished second with 27% of the vote.

Fun fact: Inès Lalouad and Stevens Dorcelus are now part of One Way's talent roster, just like Robin. The Robin and Marilou couple did not last after the show: the split was announced in January 2022.

"I'm going to look at the doors that open for me and take what comes."

Carole: Robin's streetwear thrift store

In April 2023, Robin and his roommate Maxime Chagnon opened a Carole Thrift Shop location at Centre Laval, a thrift store focused on streetwear. It fits his style: second-hand pieces, sports brands and an alternative to fast fashion. "We're going to try to create events," he told Narcity at the opening.
