OD Panamá: Alanna Beats Imane in the Flag Race and Flies to Curaçao With Tristan

Alanna beats Imane in a flag race and wins the last trip of the season to Curaçao with Tristan. Salsa for Emma and Enzo, gifts in the suites: November 4 recap.

● OpinionRecap and editorial analysis
This article presents the facts of the episode, along with the analysis of the One Way editorial team. The “Our take” and “Editor's view” sections reflect our point of view.

Wednesday night, OD Panamá handed out its very last trip of the season, and it did not go to whoever spun the bottle. Instead, Alanna and Imane faced off in a flag race in front of both houses, with every contestant lining up behind the girl they wanted to see leave. Add a strategic talk between Enzo and Émilie, a salsa class twist and gift-filled suites, and you have an episode where every choice said something about the alliances. Here is what happened, and what we make of it.

The 30-second version
  • Last trip of the season: Curaçao. The guys chose Alanna as the girl who most deserved it.
  • Enzo tells Émilie he should have named Billy and Émilie as his ideal finale couple.
  • Alanna and Imane face off in a flag race. Eight contestants back Alanna, four back Imane.
  • Alanna wins with a single mistake, against five for Imane. Alanna and Tristan fly to Curaçao.
  • Billy and Émilie send Emma and Enzo to a salsa class, and the suites fill up with gifts.
1The trip

Curaçao, the last trip of the season

This week, two contestants get to fly to Curaçao, an island known as a paradise of wild beaches, reefs and Dutch architecture. Tristan, who loves everything about the Caribbean, was already dreaming of going there.

To decide who would go, Fred and Alicia asked the guys which girl most deserved this ultimate trip. They picked Alanna, feeling she had been a bit sidelined in the girls' house. On her side, Imane made her case: she has not really had a special moment with Olivier, like a trip.

Our take
The guys' choice is a real signal: Alanna was seen as the quietest, and they gave her a spotlight. Imane's pitch is understandable, but the day after an alliance that backfired on her, the timing was clearly against her.

Two names ended up on the wheel, but the bottle never spun: Fred and Alicia wanted something grander for the last trip of the season.

2The strategy

Enzo and Émilie: a very strategic talk

Enzo had a strategic conversation with Émilie. The day before, at the table, Fred had asked who they saw themselves facing in the finale. Enzo answered honestly and did not name Billy and Émilie. Thinking it over later with Billy, he felt he should have said their name.

He describes his bond with Billy as love and hate, but says he trusts him completely. Still, questions remain: Billy is close to Alexis, Émilie is close to Juliette. In short, there are conflicts of interest in every direction.

Our take
Enzo's honesty at the table was refreshing. But the fact that he felt he had to correct course the next day shows that at this stage, every word said in front of Fred becomes a message to the other couples.
3The race

The flag race: Alanna against Imane

To win the last trip of the season, Alanna and Imane had to face off. One by one, each contestant lined up behind the girl they wanted to see leave. The picture said a lot about the current alliances.

The challenge: find the flags of the season's nine trip destinations and bring them back to their board, matching each one to the right country. The hosts added a few extra countries to mix things up. Behind each girl, her team whispered or shouted the answers. After a wrong answer, the girl had to run as fast as possible to the Pepito bar and press a button to try again.

5mistakes for Imane on her first try

Alanna took an early lead and made only one mistake, which sent her to the button once. Imane made five on her first try. Alanna wins: Alanna and Tristan fly to Curaçao.

Our take
Eight against four is the picture of the week. Two days after Tuesday's episode, Imane finds herself backed mostly by her own couple and by Sabrina and Frédérick: she has clearly lost ground in the house. One detail to watch: Mathieu behind Imane, while Alexandrie lined up behind Alanna.

4The salsa

Billy and Émilie send Emma and Enzo to salsa

In the guys' house, Fred asked Billy and Émilie to stay with him while everyone else left the living room. The news: tomorrow, two contestants get to take a salsa class. As masters of the house, Billy and Émilie had to choose the couple, with a twist: they could even pick themselves. They chose Emma and Enzo, tightening their alliance along the way.

Our take
Billy and Émilie could have picked themselves and chose Emma and Enzo instead. A generous gesture on the surface, but above all an investment: a few days before an elimination, nobody makes allies by accident.
5The gifts

Gifts in the suites, and something for everyone

The two suite couples, Billy and Émilie, and Mathieu and Alexandrie, found gifts in their rooms: perfumes, candles, room scents, body mists, bubble bath and more. A perfect surprise for Billy, a self-confessed scent addict.

Nobody was left out. In the guys' house, the others received different perfumes, courtesy of the company Dans un jardin. In the girls' house, there were lip balms and body mists.

Editor's view: who came out ahead on Wednesday?

Wednesday had no elimination, but it may have shaped Sunday's. Here is our reading of where everyone stands.

Editor's view
Rising, falling
Our reading of the Wednesday, November 4 episode
↑
Alanna and Tristan: a trip, a clear win and the backing of eight contestants. The season's quiet couple is no longer invisible.
↑
Billy and Émilie: a private suite, masters of the house and a stronger alliance with Emma and Enzo. They are pulling the strings.
↓
Imane and Olivier: after Tuesday's double talk, only four supporters and a clear loss. The week is getting harder.
↓
Sabrina and Frédérick: loyal to Imane, they find themselves in the minority camp a few days before the elimination.

In our view, the flag race was the real news of the night: by asking contestants to physically stand behind a girl, the production turned invisible alliances into a picture anyone can read. If Sunday looks anything like Wednesday, Imane's camp has reason to worry.
