Frequently Asked Questions

What inspired you to become a mental health clinician?
Luca Dumont was drawn to mental health care by a deep curiosity for the human mind and a desire to help people rebuild themselves after hardship. After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the Université de Sherbrooke, he gained hands-on experience in hospital care, home services, pediatric psychiatry, and forensic psychology. Those encounters showed him how empathy and presence can change a person’s life. Today, as he prepares to begin a Master’s in Advanced Practice in Mental Health, Luca continues to advocate for a more compassionate and accessible approach to mental health in Quebec.
How does your background in healthcare influence your content?
As a mental health clinician, Luca approaches social media with the same authenticity and empathy he brings to his patients. His clinical experience allows him to discuss topics like vulnerability, balance, and self-awareness with rare sincerity. He also collaborates with Garde-Malade, a Quebec brand that designs eco-friendly scrubs and supports causes related to mental health, cancer, and chronic illness, a partnership that aligns perfectly with his mission to make care and compassion visible both in and outside the hospital.
You often mention the role of sport in mental balance. What does soccer mean to you?
For Luca, soccer is more than a sport, it’s a life lesson. Playing for over 22 years, he won the Quebec Cup (Saputo Cup) with FC Saint-Hyacinthe at sixteen, and later returned to the same competition with Revolution FC. The discipline, teamwork, and focus he developed on the field mirror the resilience he encourages in his work as a clinician. Sport, for him, is a form of therapy, a way to stay grounded, connected, and mentally strong.
