Fredz, 24: Frédéric Carrier from Longueuil, discovered by K.Maro, 150 million streams, a sold-out Olympia in Paris and a new album coming in 2027. His story.
He made beats alone in his bedroom in Longueuil, following tutorials online. With no one to rap on them, he started rapping himself. Six years later, Fredz has sold out the Olympia in Paris, passed 150 million streams and made the JUNO Awards shortlist two years in a row. Here is the story of one of the most followed Quebec artists of his generation.
- Real name Frédéric Carrier, born January 25, 2002, in Longueuil, Quebec
- Rapper and songwriter known for a smooth, sincere and deeply personal style
- Over 150 million streams, three gold singles and a sold-out Olympia in Paris
- New album expected in early 2027
Who is Fredz?
Fredz is Frédéric Carrier, an artist born in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore. As a teenager, he learned guitar and discovered Quebec pop through artists like Émile Bilodeau, Louis-Jean Cormier, Daniel Bélanger and Karim Ouellet. Rap came later, with Lord Esperanza, Koriass and Roméo Elvis, then Orelsan and Stromae, whom he names among his biggest influences.
The "z" in his stage name is no accident. He describes it as an alter ego, a way to put the music ahead of the person. His signature: a smooth, sincere rap, often written in the first person, that blends pop melody with hip-hop honesty.
From his bedroom to K.Maro: a viral start
Everything changed in December 2019. A performance of what would become his first single, "Sara x Concassé", was posted on the Instagram page of 1minute2rap, a French platform followed by more than 900,000 people. The video caught the eye of Cyril Kamar, better known as K.Maro, who messaged him directly to meet in Montreal. Fredz has said it was his mother who recognized the singer of "Femme Like U".
Fredz signed with E.47, K.Maro's label, and released his debut album, Personne ne touche le ciel, in 2020, a breakup record that quickly found an audience on both sides of the Atlantic. From the start, more than half of his YouTube views came from French-speaking Europe.

The Olympia, a dream come true
With On s'enverra des fleurs, Fredz reached a new level. The album, written and recorded between Quebec, France and Spain, is built for the stage and blends rap with indie-pop textures. His fall 2025 European tour sold out almost everywhere in France, Belgium and Switzerland, including the Olympia in Paris. He has also opened for Charlotte Cardin and Bigflo & Oli.
At home, recognition followed. At the 2025 ADISQ Gala, he earned four nominations: male artist of the year, artist with the most international reach, song of the year for "Le stade" and show of the year for Demain il fera beau.

Fredz news in 2026
Spring 2026 was busy. Fredz sold out MTELUS two nights in a row, on May 29 and 30, on top of a tour taking him from Amos to Sherbrooke, by way of Gatineau, Quebec City and Trois-Rivières. Meanwhile, he released the first singles from his next album: "Si on revenait en arrière" in the spring, then "Mademoiselle" in June, a sunny track co-written with Carbonne that started during a songwriting trip to Barcelona. More recently, "Millionnaire" confirmed a new album planned for 2027.
An artist who built his community online
Fredz's career is also a lesson in artist marketing. Discovered through a video shared on Instagram, he built his community by staying close to fans on social media, even documenting his European tour from his tour bus. That approach now lets him fill venues on both sides of the Atlantic, with the same direct tone he had at the start.
