Robin Messier joins Vendredis OD: A recap of a dramatic first week

Last Wednesday, the official Occupation Double page announced the much-anticipated return of Vendredis OD, a weekly recap show highlighting the key moments of the season. Hosted by Kim Rusk, the latest edition brought together popular former contestants: Maripier Morin, Laurie Doucet, Robin Messier, Sansdrick, and Rym. Together, they offered viewers both entertaining and critical insights on this season’s brand-new format.
A new format that gets people talking
This year’s Occupation Double has already managed to stir conversation. The iconic oriflammes, usually displayed above the beds, have been reimagined: this time featuring personalized photos of Quebec content creators who aren’t part of the competition itself. A clever way to connect the show with today’s digital culture.
Another key change was the traditional red carpet, which has been completely reinvented. Instead of a large formal ceremony, contestants walked a mini red carpet, shifting the focus from spectacle to the adventure itself. While the simplified setup was refreshing for some, others pointed out the real challenges contestants faced, from the blazing heat to long hours in high heels and even moments of panic.
Robin Messier’s take
During the discussion, Robin Messier reflected on Danick’s early exit alongside Élisa. According to him, Danick “put all his eggs in one basket” by focusing too quickly on Cindy. Robin suggested that Danick should have taken time to connect with more contestants and maintain balance in the early days of the competition.
This dynamic also had an impact on Cindy, who became somewhat isolated from the other male contestants. Maripier Morin even went as far as to compare her to a “Karine Saint-Michel 2.0,” pointing to similarities in her attitude and the way she expressed herself.
A week full of twists
The first week alone was packed with drama. Beyond Danick and Élisa leaving, replaced by Béatrice and Mathis, viewers also witnessed a double elimination with Yorick and Claudia. More recently, Noémie’s unexpected departure shocked both fans and fellow contestants.
On social media, Robin asked his community what they thought of the season so far, concluding that “things are heating up.” Fans are now waiting for his take in the upcoming Vendredi OD.
A new segment: “Au divan”
Another addition to the format is the “Au divan” segment, where guests comment on the show live through their own social media channels. For the premiere, Mathieu Pellerin and Claudie Mercier shared their real-time reactions, offering fans an even more interactive experience with Occupation Double.
