The project begins with a step many tend to avoid, but one Alexane openly embraces: a full deep clean, casually described as “much needed.” This reset sets the foundation for a more structured process. A video consultation follows, allowing Alexane to clearly identify Lewis’s needs, preferences, and deal-breakers. Leaning toward a minimalist style, Lewis wants a functional space without visual overload, while remaining open to a few key statement pieces.

From the couch to the rug: building a space one decision at a time

The day revolves around one central goal: finding the couch that will anchor the entire apartment. With measuring tape in hand, Alexane lays out the plan, “Today: we’re buying you a couch”, reinforcing the importance of thinking spatially before decorating.

At the store, Lewis immediately gravitates toward a beige couch displayed at the entrance, while Alexane encourages him to explore other options before committing. Design decisions follow a clear logic: a coffee table, yes; clutter, no. The video flows naturally between shopping moments, candid conversations, and lighter interludes, including an unexpected challenge Lewis accepts, tying together tuna, Occupation Double, and subscriber milestones.

A week later, the transformation takes shape. The couch has arrived, but key elements are still missing: lighting, a TV stand, and a rug. A trip to IKEA follows, where the duo navigates through Japanese- and European-inspired setups before selecting a black marble-effect side table, a wooden TV unit, and a textured rug, not without debate.

The final sequence unfolds back at Lewis’s place, in a raw and authentic atmosphere. The old setup is dismantled, the space cleaned, and new pieces added, including a white lamp purchased by mistake instead of black. The finishing touches ultimately come from Structube, with a matching black lamp and TV stand completing the look.
